FWIW - Here is what I did and I lost 30lbs in 3 months.
I eliminated most of my daily favorites - blue cheese (in all forms), cream in coffee, soda, cheese, ice cream, pasta and most bread(except for special occasions)
Additionally I started working out - 3-5 times a week for at least 1 hour each.
Till life threw me a curveball I was fine. Since then I have NOT put on any weight, but my tone now sux.
