The reason I know about Ember is because a good friend told me. Often times violence and abuse towards animals leads to or is a sign of abuse/violence towards humans. In addition to that, animals deserve our protection from torture as much as humans do. That poor puppy was beaten (broken jaw), burned, who-knows, and then left for 2 weeks before someone rescued her. She is just as undeserving of that kind of treatment as a human child.

Understandably, this has affected you deeply because you know the dog. It's a horrible thing to happen to any dog, or human. Are you aware this happens every day... just in this country? A friend of mine is an animal control officer (dog catcher), and tells me about this stuff at least two or three times a month, just in one South Jersey county. Cats seem to be targeted more than dogs, too. It's sickening.
