You all missed a great event. It's not too late to go to see it today. 1-6 PM in Fishtown today.
We had a great time. There were quite a few vendors. In addition, all of the art galleries were open.
I did pick up a few items, but I spent very little.
From the top.
A Shaun of the Dead framed mini-poster from Geekboypress signed by the artist - $5
Two small (hotel sized) free samples of scented C.O.P.A soap (Coconut, Olive, Palm & Almond Oils)
One wax .45 caliber bullet engraved with name of choice - $1 donation. This was sort of an art project. People would write their names in a book, along with their e-mail address and whatever they wanted to put on the bullet. I remarked how interesting that book would be to some black suited people. I did not give my full name or primary e-mail. The artist then engraved the name on a bullet.
1 free two sided indelible marker - Blick Art had a wheel of fortune. I won a black marker and my friend won a reusable shopping bag.
Of course our wives were there also but their purchases were also reasonable. My wife hooked up with the handbag lady. She saw a small bag with the right fabric pattern and ordered a large one in the same pattern. She and her friend also hit the raffle.
Afterwards we went into South Street early (about 4:30) and were able to get street parking. While I was worried about what would happen if I re-fed the meter past 2 hours, the Parking Authority did not molest me although the guy behind me did get a ticket.
We used our Restaurant.com certificate at The Latest Dish on 4th Street. This may have been one of the best restaurants we've eaten at with a certificate, although my wife remarked how lucky we've been with my picks (only 1 'fair' and rest 'good' to 'excellent').
We took a short walk up South. Our friends had parked at a headless parking meter and were also worried about the 2 hour limit that we extended to 3, so we only hit a few stores. The only stuff we picked up was at an "All T-shirts $5" store.
We'd do it again, but we might go on a Sunday next time becuase I don't feel like risking having to pay a lot $15 or move the car after 2 hours. Philly is really cutting their own throat with the new parking restrictions. Short term gain measured against long term loss.
Overall, a very good day.
BTW, I'm sorry for all of the 'my wife' references. She doesn't use the Cellar and I try very hard not to use her name. I think I'm going to have to ask her to pick a username anyway.
