Holy Shit.
1. Say NOTHING to the Realtor or the mortgage broker or anyone else. This need not screw up your purchase if you keep quiet until you get a new job.
2. Stay positive - process the trauma later.
3. Call every IT recruiter in your area and ask if they have any reqs fitting your skills.
4. Scan the websites of IT placement firms - sometimes you can get lucky even in a bad economy.
5. Don't give up!
I am so sorry to hear this - it makes me sick.
Keep fighting, Radar. You deserve to own a home for your family.
One more thing - beg your boss for two more weeks.
