The Sandman was a comic series - a really amazing one.
You can buy it in graphic novel form, I wholly recommend it. I think there's about 10 in total.
In fact when my ship comes in I'll have to go about doing that myself - I lost my whole Sandman collection (I had the whole run) when I moved to London.
