I love the Coen brothers. Have you seen Raising Arizona?
As to not liking then liking a movie: my ex tried to get me to watch Pulp Fiction, and the first time I totally didn't like it...just wasn't into it.
Now I've probably seen it 30 times and it is in my top 10.
