Somebody must of screwed up. They have a system to defeat that safety feature for sorting. Did you ever see a sign that said "do not hump" or "do not hump this car"? Humping is when they sort the cars into trains by destination. They engine pushes the car to the top of a hill and then as the car rolls down the slope, they switch it on to the proper track to bump into the back of the train it's assigned to. If the car is oversize, heavily loaded, explosives, etc, it'll have a "do not hump" sign.
