These pictures are not unique either. We've seen hundreds of them, from Mike Yon and other photographers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In fact, this behavior by American soldiers is so common, the enemy has used it for car bomb attacks, that kill and maim children, that gather wherever our soldiers go.
Oh, not just Iraq and Afghanistan. Remember Big Sarge's, "Santa Sarge" video from Kosovo? Damn, I can't find it to link, at the moment.
