From the Canadian Press:
Owner and chef Dan Hilliard defended his decision, saying the restaurant has certain standards and that he requires employees keep their hair at a reasonable length. Hilliard said Thursday Fearnall was still on the payroll and can return to work once she grows her hair back.
Then later:
A week after losing her job because she arrived for work with a shaved head in support of cancer research, an Ontario woman has been offered an apology.
But Stacey Fearnall will have to read about it in the newspaper. "I'm glad they finally made a statement in the media and I'm glad its over," Fearnall said Monday.
When asked if she had been contacted or had even seen the response from her former employers, Fearnall offered a stoic: "No."
Here's the apology:
Dan Hilliard, the owner of Nathaniel's Restaurant in Owen Sound, Ont., on Monday offered his "sincere apologies to Mrs. Fearnall, the Canadian Cancer Society, Cops for Cancer and the public, for failing to resolve the issue of Mrs. Fearnall shaving her head for Cops for Cancer, prior to Mrs. Fearnall contacting the media."
Which to me looks like, "We're very sorry we got caught being asshats."
