There's not a lot to do when you live in Komin, Croatia--except maybe get 395 townspeople to dress up as smurfs to try to beat the Guinness World Record for 'most smurfs in one place.'
But unfortunately, the event organizers didn't do their research. "We read on the internet that the record was 290 people held by a group of Americans," said one Croatian. But when they contacted Guinness to report their event, they were informed that the record is actually 451 smurfs, held by the Warwick University Students' Union. "We could easily have got more Smurfs, but we thought that over a hundred more than the American record we found on the internet would be enough." Maybe next year.
