About six months ago a friend of a friend wanted to start a business converting LPs to MP3 (or whatever format you wanted). The secret of the business would be that they only had to rip each LP once; after that they could use the master copy to create as many additional copies as people wanted. Then they looked into the legality of it, and found that the current legal status made it impossible.
Sad, because it was the best business idea I have ever heard.
