I've been reading....
The state of Western Australia is Australia's face to the Indian Ocean. Its Capital, Perth, is closer to Singapore and Jakarta that it is to Canberra (Australia's Capital).
Western Australia is Australia's largest state, occupying a third of Australia and spanning 2.400kms North to South, with an area if more than 2,500,000 sq km and a coastline of 12,500 km.
Western Australia has a relatively small population and has the lowest population density of any state in Aust (and perhaps the world).
Occupying an area of approx. 2.5 million square kms, it has a population of just over 1.9 million, most of who live in Perth. The population in this state has remained small due to large area of desert and semi arid areas that prevail throughout the state which are not suitable for cultivation and have limited expansion into the state's inland.
Yesterday was sleep/rest day as we didnt get to the hotel until 2am and the kids were trashed....especially the 2yr old who I was about to chuck out the emergency exits since he stayed awake and feral for the entire trip.
Today we went to Hillary's Harbour and to the Aquarium of Western Australia, which showcases marine life from the 12.5k coastline.
Then we went to an impromptu beach visit.
