Readers: there aren't a ton of them, except for the IotD blog view. It used to be that on places like Usenet, there would be 10 readers for every poster. Here the ratio is probably closer to 1:1.
Changing your mind: it's still important to talk out all the points. If you're intellectually honest, you want to hear as many opinions as you can, especially the ones you don't agree with. If you don't change your mind, then your opinion is stronger because it's been tested. Of course that depends on one being open to other opinions and open to criticism.
