Stowe built at his grandfathers NC beachfront cottage, with the help of family and a bunch of hippies, back in the 70s.
Just four days out, they were chased out of, "HAZARDOUS OPERATIONS-SEA TRIAL MISSILEX AND GUNEX" exercise by the US Navy, and fifteen days out they were hit by a freighter which thankfully only tore off the bow sprint.
It's an adventure and not all fun and games. I don't think I would enjoy being cooped up with another person, on a small boat, for 1000 days. Too little space and too much salt.
