A misunderstood problem
Well that was an enlightening read!
My take is that the 'West', as you call it, did not do enough to thwart this backward regime (Taliban) to begin with.
Count Zero, you should thank your lucky stars you don't live in Afghanistan, as you wouldn't be allowed to own a computer, let alone access the Internet, your wife wouldn't be allowed to drive a car, your daughter would not be allowed to attend school.
There has probably not been a more repressive regime on the face of the earth for many years than the Taliban.
Their attempt to unite the majority of peace-loving Muslims in a holy war against the 'West' tells me this is the last gasp of a dying cause.
Count Zero, I hope your beard is long enough!
