There are things you can change and things you can't change. And your analogy doesn't work.
There are two reasons for how we are (non-physical) in the world.
1) Genetics
2) Social forces
Since you have said that race doesn't exist many times you believe that white and blacks have the same genetic potential so that means the reason has to go to social forces. You can change social forces.
You are not able to play basketball because of a physical condition that is unchangeable.
Also, you can join a wheelchair basketball (I don't know the real name of it) team that is discriminatory against people that can play basketball without one.
