ok it should be noted, first of all, that the link i provided to indymedia seems to be blatant anti-americanism... i really should have looked into it further, as it appears they have no solid proof aside from an account from some guy who may or may not be some kind of professor down in brazil. whatever.
as for up north here... i don't live in america so i can't compare, but there sure is a big mix of cultures here, and they -seem- to get along. i suppose its just these sorts of events that cause the hatred to seep out from under the crack of the closet door it had all been shoved into. i heard rumour of a mosque being destroyed in montreal, and one was firebombed in st catherines [near the US border with new york] but haven't seen any news reports so these items can't be substantiated.
i encourage you all to stamp out racist acts if you see them occuring on the street! we can't let hate turn into more hatred..
