You won't be disappointed. You can't go wrong with Thelonious Monk or any of his contemporaries--Sonny Rollins, Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, etc.
Latin Jazz is great, too. Tito Puente and Bossa Nova artists like Joćo and Astrud Gilberto and Stan Getz are some of my favorites.
