Lesson one: Never, ever, EVER let the police into your home without a warrant. E-V-E-R.
"May I come in?"
"What can I help you with" - as you block the door with your body and walk out onto the front porch closing the door behind you.
The first thing that will come out at trial is that the police didn't have a warrant. The second thing that will come out is that they didn't need one because the defendent invited them inside the home. The third thing that will happen is your lawyer will roll his eyes and sigh.
