The newest accessory to the pimpin coat is actually an old friend.
About a dozen years ago, my mom bought me this scarf. It's a nice enough scarf...black and white plaid...very cool. But back then, I didn't care for it much. Wearing a scarf at that time was incredibly uncool...much like wearing a knit hat, or a t-shirt under your dress shirt.
Now, I'm a little older and wiser (hopefully), and I don't care if I'm uncool or not...I'm all about staying warm. (And besides that, I am naturally cool as it is...I just didn't know it then.)
And it has been a rough winter in Philadelphia thus far. This week, early morning temps have been hovering in the single digits or low teens. Bitter winds too...I look even more Native than I already am.
Well, pimpin accessories help...but those winds are hurting my outstanding-looking
face. So, my former enemy is now a trusted ally. That 6-block walk to the bus stop is nothing now, thanks to that warm scarf around my neck and face. Though, in a strong gust, it tries to unravel from around my neck and hit me in the face...revenge, perhaps?
