Shame it won't be summer. The Rockefellers had an estate there that burned down years ago but they have two full time gardeners that keep the gardens primo.
There is a lot of antique carved stone artwork from Korea and China that John D. brought back in his travels. Beautiful flower beds, semi-private quiet spots with stone benches and even a Moon Gate in one wall.
The family likes to visit when they are in town or anchored in the harbor. The Bush family used to hang there too... maybe that's why it's called BAR Harbor.
