Apart from the obvious fucking up of the ecosystem, we aren't really living in a more apocolyptic world now, than we did a hundred, a thousand or ten thousand years ago.

There have always been people living in the face of danger and disaster, we've had ice ages, mini ice ages, continental shifts, great waves and whole cities buried under flowing lava. They aren't signs of a coming messiah.

It's possible that we have done enough damage in the last hundred years or so, to the earth's natural systems that we genuinely face true destruction.....but it's not the rapture, neither is the wolf swallowing the sun, nor is this destruction part of a larger and ineffable plan. It's stuff thats happening. there has always been stuff happening, and if our grandchildren have not been robbed of a healthy world to live in, by our excess, then stuff will continue to happen.
