Smithsonian Magazine had an article about Mary Magdalene a couple months back. It showed how MM was Jesus' closest confederate and the one that talked to him in the tomb after the resurrection.
It went on to explain hove the Roman church convinced people MM was a slave and whore to discredit her. That way the male line would dominate the Roman church.
I don't know if it's true or not, but an interesting read for me because I have no stake in it, either way.
