I recently read a newspaper article about Sears Holding Corporation (which owns Sears and Kmart) teaming up with the public charity [501(c)(3) status]
USA Cares which is dedicated to needy service members and their families. The charity is listed on the Sears holiday shopping site "
readysetholiday" and there is a link to the
charity specific web page. Contributors are able to purchase gifts for donation, to service members' families, from a
wish list that the families submit to the charity. The wish list is extensive and may be slow to load; but, it appears in its entirety. Many of the items requested are quite modest. This seems to be a worthwhile endeavor for those with little disposable income; but, lots of heart.
