i admit openly that i am both "pipedreams2" and "Pain and Woe" i am running them in very similar fashion, but i want to see what effect it has when one has entered the UN and the other hasn't. if that isn't cool with cellarites, i'll remove one from the region. i already checked with the game FAQs and it is ok so long as only one joins the UN.

The Disputed Territories of Pain and Woe is a tiny, socially progressive nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The minute, pro-business government, or what there is of one, juggles the competing demands of Religion & Spirituality, Law & Order, and Commerce. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Soda Sales, and Furniture Restoration industries.

Voting is voluntary. Crime is a major problem. Pain and Woe's national animal is the whalepenis, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Tear.
