Y'know.....at my university campus, if I forget my student pass, I am still allowed to use the facilities. If I want to go into the library, I have to go through an electric barrier which is opened with said pass....if I forget it, I am buzzed in by the library receptionist. They do that three times within a semester and after that they refuse....you go home and get your pass then come back. Without either a pass, or being buzzed in by reception staff, there is no way to access the library.
In the computer hubs, we don't need a pass......we just have to log on with our student id and password, (which is easy enough to remember). I have never in all my time there been asked to produce ID, except when enrolling and in order to open the electric barrier to the library. This isn't a small university. There are many thousands of students and the campus covers a huge part of the city of Leeds.
There are a small number of police and security people stationed on the campus, in order to provide protection and security, primarily to those living in halls of residence.
Why do your university police have tasers? Have you had a large problem with criminal and violent behaviour amongst your student population?
