A long time ago, AG used to add a space to long strings of characters, presumably to break up URLs or something. Anyway, it interfered with posting ASCII, so you had to add a manual space inbetween each character, to avoid the auto-spacing.

Also, AG didn't resize the width of the text field to different browser windows, so what I did was determine the exact width, with one line of a test character, and open a notepad file of that exact width. Then I had to post test characters (I had already determined which parts character map would display on AG) in order to group them by relative width. That way, I could compose images with characters of equal width.

I did have alot of time on my hands back then.
