If You Were Going to be on Montel, Wouldn't You Tell Your Coworkers?
You know how sometimes you hear about something after the fact, and wonder why you didn't know beforehand?
This is one of those things. One of my coworkers was supposed to have been on a recent episode of Montel. She is part time, and I don't see her all that often, but a lot of information of much lesser impact crashes through our well-maintained and oiled rumor mill in a matter of hours. Montel doesn't have a decent enough searchable episode guide to even attempt to find the episode number, or to determine whether it might be rebroadcast at any time soon.
The daughter of one of our employees was murdered in a hotel room nearby. I came across the affidavit of probable cause filed on the killer. Alleged killer. Whatever. It provided some significantly grimmy details of which I was previously unaware.
The list of charges is fairly impressive ... but it looks like this hasn't gone to trial as the case is still logged as "active"

Her appearance would probably have been in some way related to this case.
