Aflatoxin was the cause of death in this case. And yes, most pet food is tested. I have a friend who is a lab tech a a pet food company here. All their products are tested before delivery for aflatoxin (which is invisible, oderless and colorless) along with many other impurities which could contaminate the product.
Bad management is the culprit here. It costs money to maintain quality control. That money (in the plant owners' eyes) is a deduction of profit.
Diamond is offering to "pay vet bills". Puhleeze....
The company aforementioned has gone from 1 8 hr shift per day to three 8 hr shifts since this came to the consumer's attention, to supply the demands of Ex Diamond pet food customers.
Good thing it wasn't one of my dogs.
I say: Diamond....read em & weep. Pay up. Do your fucking job.
