Islam is pretty ego-centric in that regard. Mohammed changed behavioral codes that had earlier "been written" pretty much to suit himself and his needs. Allah told you you could only have one wife? Couple chapters later, Allah says it's okay to take as many as you like. Allah says to make truce with the Qayrash? All right, except that because of some loophole the Qayrash didn't know about and also didn't violate, the truce is void and Qayrash may be slaughtered unarmed.
There are also, I have learned, writings beyond the Quran that amend or change information in the Quran.
