Man. I know that the IotD brought me here when I was still living in Vegas. That was Pre LJ and during the last dying throes of Dave-ness.
I lurked for a few months, then got my toes wet and was promptly smacked down. I tried to quit once, tried the "alternate name" thing (for about 2 posts), and then found my balance.
I come back because:
.all of the different points of view in one place.
.so many people know so much more than I do about lots of stuff, and I try to learn from them.
.someone usually has it worse than me, and I can lend an encouraging word
.when I need some support or advice, folks here will usually offer me an encouraging word, or at least their opinion.
.there is an ignore function.
.there are no avatars.
.UT isn't one of those admins that you have to agree with (which I respect the hell out of and appreciate)
.I have no RL friends.
