He describes it as a "wild speculation". A SWAG that hit the bullseye. The cost reduction in the technology is staggering. Cost of a 256Mb memory chip today is less than what a single transistor cost back when the "law" was discovered, about $150 from Fairchild Electronics. We're talking about approximately 300,000,000 transistors today for less than the cost of 1 transistor then. Wow.
