Wrong, disgusting, unhygienic (obviously), and downright creepy, yes. But was the guy doing anything sexual? I doubt it.
I wouldn't consider anyone who assumes the worst about this to be overreacting, but I do wonder <i>why</i> we assume the worst all the time.
Seriously, I think it much more likely that the guy was doing the procedure the way he thought was most effective. Way off base, wrong and just plain gross, but truly, do you really think it was sexual? To get blood to come out of a wound, I suck on it. Granted, it's usually my own finger that I do this to, but still. The very simple logic of it is there.
It says in the article "
...uses a rare practice... " which implies that it's not completely unheard-of. So maybe it's innocent in a misguided sort of way. Then it's just down to the unhygienic factor. I really hope that's the case, because if it isn't that would make him a very special kind of evilly wrong person.
