Yeah, they can pack quite a wallop! Baloo learned early that we don't jump on people in our house. As you said, though, they are very sweet and just want to please. Newfies remind me of Golden Retrievers, without the super-hyper mode.
Baloo's mom was large for a female and weighed in at 155 lbs., so we think our boy will be big, to say the least. His dad was a dry-mouth and so far, so good on the drool. Not to say there isn't any, but if you just rub it in, it doesn't show.
