The Mall (which includes the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Vietnam Wall)

Arlington National Cemetery (and have good walking shoes--lots of walking, lots of hills)

Rock Creek Park

Georgetown,
Adams-Morgan, and K Street (the hip and happening spots in the city)

Embassy Row (along Mass. Ave. NW)

Bethesda (make sure to eat at BD's Mongolian Barbeque)

College Park

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (one of the most beautiful churches in the world)

U Street

Riding Metrorail (which puts most public transit systems to shame)

Eastern Market

Union Station
