When I was a sophomore in high school (or actually it was Klasse 10 at the Kepler Gymnasium in Freiburg, W. Germany) I purchased A Night at the Opera. I must have listened to it half a dozen times before I light bulb went off in my head that '39 was a song about the relativity of perceived time passage as you travel closer and closer to the speed of light.
I couldn't believe that a rock song by a major group would be about physics. I remembering reading the credits and that Brian May wrote it, so I've thought of him with fondness since about 1982.
It wasn't until years later that I learned he is a physicist and is published and stuff. Wild.
And I own one pair of slip on slippers and probably have about 9 other pair of laced shoes, sneakers, boots, etc.
