1/3/2006: Gouda city hall lit for Christmas

A red face for me this week as I set this into the queue for IotD and then forgot they were "time-sensitive" being directly Christmas-related. But they're so good they need to be an IotD anyway.

xoB sent these along; I thought they had something to do with cheese, but it's just the name of the town where the cheese comes from in the Netherlands. For Christmas, the city hall is lit in 8 different variations and it changes on the half-hour.

I especially like the way the windows are changed with the new scheme. The last image looks totally metallic. Makes me say: HOW THE HELL'D THEY DO THAT?

I couldn't find any pictures of the other 5 variations. Hopefully someone out there lurking on the net will help us out, I'm guessing they're just as cool as these 3.

Oh man, that's real. I thought it was a flashback.

I like the shot with lots of green and yellow. Had a piece of gouda do that when I left it at the back of my fridge too long! :lol:

Anyone know how long they've been doing this? It seems like it'd be difficult without modern conveniences.
