Rain, Rain, Go Away.

My brother sent me pictures of his store. The river came up and blocked the babbling brook that normally runs through a small culvert under the road and parking lot. No place to go but over the top taking much pavement and what's under it along. :(

Some of it got deposited at the bottom of the hill. :(

Along with 8 of his cars.
If you look down through the trees, to the right of the cars, you can just make out the "normal" level of the river.

Yikes!
Is this local bruce? Went for a swim in the Brandywine yesterday (under the bridge at Rt. 100 in Chadds Ford), it's faster and higher than usual (hence the swim  )but from the debris (including a deer carcass :dead: )it looked like it must have been much worse a few days ago.

Since Katrina, Rita gave me some rain, about 3/4" none since. But I happy because of my last roof repairs might not work.

While you're at it Bruce, what's the condition of the stream behind your place?

xoxoxoBruce 10-18-2005 03:54 PM

Oops..........My brother lives in MA, right on the CT line. There had been flooding further north from about Greenfield up through VT, NH & ME.
They had 6" of rain the previous day which is normally OK, but the ground was saturated from the previous 2 weeks of rain. Every low spot and depression was already full and couldn't hold no mo, so every bit of that 6 inches was on the move.

Els, I'm so ugly even Mother Nature backs away.
It seems every stream, creek and river in the area flooded......except the one behind my house. The highest it got was still 2 ft below flood stage. I'm not disappointed.
