UFO arrives on demand...

http://filecabi.net/v.php?file=ufoon...340&height=320

Prophet Yahweh summons a UFO much to the surprise of an ABC channel 13 news reporter.

Soon after this video was released, ABC rescinded on doing an additional interview. The reason? "the story is being blown way out of proportion so I don`t think it would be too wise to do anything else concerning this story."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The prophet Yahweh seems to have a rather prodigious google presence.
Well, I don't know about the video, my computer wouldn't run it, but when I clicked on the links, one of them was about THIS
Interesting. You're about two months late with the UFO thing, TS. I believe Yahweh's latest project is to call down an army of space aliens for the CBS evening news this coming Thursday. :cool:
This Thursday, you say? Good. I'm bored as all hell.
Anybody from Las Vegas able to confirm this is real news story rather than a carefully prepared hoax?
Happy Monkey 08-02-2005 01:26 PM
It is a real news story that treats a carefully prepared hoax as legitimate.
Trilby 08-02-2005 01:29 PM
How could it be prepared? The station picked the time, place and day. And Yaweh's Prophet does admit that he only does what the voices in his head tell him to do...he's just following orders. I am really counting on the Thursday night invasion of UFO's to break up the week. :alien:
Oh, well. If it doesn't happen there is a show on the HISTORY channel about dragons that night...
plthijinx 08-02-2005 01:43 PM
great. not only do i have to worry about birds and other planes when i fly, i gotta watch out for UFO's too! :smack:
I never heard the details on that. When did they give him that information relative to the time he actually had to perform? The more time there is between the events, the easier it is.
However, even if they just drove around and randomly picked a place, let him out of a car, and let him do his thing, there's a relatively simple way to do it. Just have an accomplice waiting outside the station, who follows the station vehicle until the place is chosen, keeps driving to a spot that is a predetermined direction from the chosen spot, and release a weather balloon. While this is happening, "Prophet Yahweh" is giving his introductory speech and then his incantation, which he keeps doing until he locates the balloon in the sky, shouts out, and points to it.
damn, HM, you are going to be assimilated by the Borg before you are willing to accept their reality. :borg:
Speaking of which, has anyone here ever read a book that gives a pseudoscientific dissertation on how dragons could have existed? A roommate from college showed it to me, and it was pretty fun. I think the basic premise was a) they were essentially hydrogen balloons with armored heads, which is why they hid in caves, b) they didn't hoard gold - their stomach acid was powerful enough to digest anything but gold, so if they ate a knight, they'd leave a pile of gold in their cave, c) they hunted using hypnotic eyes to lure prey towards the cave d) the eplosive power of the hydrogen combined with the high-powered acid explains why no skeletons remain.
Fun book.
re: HM's weather balloon theory.
the accomplice would have to release the balloon far enough away so that it could reach altitude before being identified by the news crew. he'd have to have an almost psychic knowledge of meteorology and what the wind was doing at different altitudes over the filming location. In theory, getting a balloon to perform on cue is possible, but so difficult as to render it as implausible as space invaders.
[mulder]Maybe he's part of a government program to gauge public reaction to UFOs, preparing us for the big unveiling of classified Area 51 schwag. Maybe he came across a crashed (government-created) UFO and figured out how to get the thing running again.[/mulder]
[scully]Maybe Golden Palace Casino is drumming up publicity for something. Maybe he's an illusionist in the David Blaine mold, doing his performance art thing.[/scully]
Maybe he's a prophet, maybe he's a nut, maybe he's a fraud. But isn't it even a little cool to see someone call up a UFO on command? He'd have been burned at the stake a couple centuries ago.
It depends on what the guy's doing to keep the attention of the crew on himself (or the wrong bit of sky) until he can find the balloon in the sky (ie, misdirection).
Not really. Obviously, the more he knows about the wind speed and direction that day, the more impressive his show can be, but it's not necessary. He just makes the UFO appear; he doesn't predict what maneuvers it will make.
Sure. I love magic shows, especially Penn and Teller.
he can easily get the wind speed and direction for that day/time check it out...[meteorology lesson]the FT and the numers after (ie 3000, 6000 etc) are the altitudes
then is the location (psx=palacious hou=houston hobby etc)
in short, that dude would have to be incredibly lucky to find a wind shear. can he summon ufo's? who knows, his demonstration is pretty cool.
Fun book.
Was it the Journal of Irreproducible Results ? I seem to recall having seen that in one of their anthologies many years ago.
