Foods made famous by TV shows
I watch way too much TV...
And now I'm getting to a point that I want to try things that they talk about on TV. I'm a huge King of the Hill fan and one of Peggy Hill's specialties is Frito Pie with Wolf brand Chili. I've never made Frito Pie, never heard of Wolf Brand Chili - but it is real and want to give it a try. Has anyone else done something like this or am I just nuts? |
I love Frito Pies. I first heard of them when I lived in Houston. Our Junior High served them up in the cafeteria. Good stuff, good times....
My meal made famous by T.V. was Krispy Kremes. That John Travolta movie about (or not about) Clinton talked about them all through the film. I had never heard of them and then, a few years later, wham! They suddenly started popping up all over Phx. |
I ate Frito Pie out of the school cafeteria every single day for more than a year.
If you don't want to make it yourself, Sonic also serves Frito Pies. They're great! |
Marge Simpson makes Jellybean cookies... but I don't think I'll try those any time soon.
|
I wonder what happens to jelly beans in the oven. I'd expect they'd melt and caramelize.

Ah, Frito Pie...a big perk of growing up in the western states.
Here's an interesting version: http://www.thecookingguy.com/cookbook/recipe.php?id=257 Lately, watching reruns of "Dead Like Me" on On Demand has made me crave Pecan Waffles with Extra Crispy Bacon. I've never had pecan waffles, but I bet they're pretty damn good! |
Pork Chops and Apple Shaush.

I have a fondness for eating Jiffy Pop Pop Corn while watching the movie Real Genius.
Does that count? I also feel a certain lack in my life for not having a cool, trendy coffee shop with sofas instead of tables that I can hang out in, drink overpriced, foul-tasing coffee, and meet seemingly interesting, but actually shallow, friends. |

I have a few (real and fictional). I'm leaving off the TV show/movie so you can guess.
Cheesy Poofs Grape Nehi (Hint: pronounced 'knee-high') Lollipop Adam's Ribs Coors Beer Martini (shaken not stirred) |
Tea, Earl Grey, hot.
(Picard's usual beverage on Star Trek TNG, ordered to a computer which replicated it. At the time of first airing, this order caused some conversation on the trek newsgroup, because by Picard's time he would just say the more natural "hot Earl Grey tea" and not have to construct a downward heirarchy for a dumber computer.) |
