Zombie Dogs...

Boffins create zombie dogs

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117...-13762,00.html

SCIENTISTS have created eerie zombie dogs, reanimating the canines after several hours of clinical death in attempts to develop suspended animation for humans.

sounds fishy to me... if remember correctly from my many red cross cpr and lifeguarding classes, you are suppossed to start cpr asap because every minute that goes by w/o the brain getting oxygen, it is becoming damaged.

That's all I need is a bunch of dogs running around trying to eat my brains. Who needs that frustration.

Not if you get the brain cold enough.

It's the tissue degredatation that results from the oxygen starvation that causes brain damage.

to paraphrase fark, is anyone even TRYING to find a cure for cancer anymore?

Right, I just never knew about that whole keep it cool and it'll be fine deal. I guess as long as you just keep it cold but don't freeze the tissue?

wolf 08-01-2005 01:05 PM

Right, the trick is in cold but not frozen. If the tissues freeze, the resulting expansion when ice forms destroys the cell walls.

You don't want your brain getting freezer burn.
