Perfect day

Yesterday was one for the memory books. They don't come often so you have to appreciate them when they do.

To start off it was perfect weather in Chicagoland. Temps in the 70s and low humidity. I had planned to take the day off anyway. The perfect weather was dumb luck.

First thing in the morning, I played tennis with my oldest daughter who has taken a recent interest in the game. Went home and did some chores around the house, but it was easy duty because it was perfect weather.

In the afternoon we went to see Jim Dale. Jim Dale reads the audio books for the Harry Potter series. He performed sections from most of the books illustrating the various voices. He also told stories about how he came up with some of the voices. It's a lot of fun to watch his face when he switches from voice to voice.

After that we spent some time at a local Humane Society. The kids are lobbying for a second dog. Haven't made the plunge, but it's always fun to see the puppies.

After that we went home and made a quick meal and watched a movie.

And in the background always that perfect weather.

yeah, yesterday was awesome in Illinois (did I really say that?).

I walked to lunch with my husband... drove to his work and we walked to campustown for some Jimmy Johns.

When I got home, I opened all of the windows in my house and separated my photos and did some scrapbooking. It was just like I was outside! The house felt great inside.

We grilled for dinner... again - it was so nice outside.

Today is looking like it will be about the same!

It was raining yesterday here in Akron.. whoopee.. but Monday I believe night we had a wicked storm come through with tons of lighting and so much thunder it just continuously rolled for a couple hours. Slept with the windows open that night to hear the thunder better, luckily the rain always towards the back of the house so none comes through my windows.
Now that's what I call awesome weather.

Dar, just wanted to say that I was really touched by your description of spending a day with your family and taking such pleasure in being with them and doing the simple things of being there for your children - enjoying a game of tennis with your daughter, going to the humane society to see the puppies, etc.

After what I've been through here recently, I forget sometimes that this is what life SHOULD be like.

Thanks for reminding me that there are decent guys out there. You appear to be one of them.

May you enjoy many more such perfect days! :)

I agree - Sunday monings hubby usually plays golf, so Princess of the Ryche and I stay in our pajamas, play with her train, color, blow bubbles, dance and sing and act generally silly. Some of my favorite moments.

It's a ruse.

You saw Jim Dale?! You dog! I am *so* envious.

No one in my family has so much as turned a page in a Harry Potter book...we've bought them all on audiobook, and have enjoyed Jim Dale's interpretations almost as much as the story itself. He is a brilliant character reader. He is so good, in fact, that I almost had a hard time enjoying the first film because "the voices weren't right".

Dick Dale maybe. Never heard of Jim Dale.

And as for perfect days I can't help but think of Lou Reed, except his perfect day doesn't sound as sincere as yours.

Perfect Day

Just a perfect day
drink Sangria in the park
And then later
when it gets dark, we go home

Just a perfect day
feed animals in the zoo
Then later
a movie, too, and then home

Oh, it's such a perfect day
I'm glad I spend it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You just keep me hanging on

Just a perfect day
problems all left alone
Weekenders on our own
it's such fun

Just a perfect day
you made me forget myself
I thought I was
someone else, someone good

Oh, it's such a perfect day
I'm glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You just keep me hanging on

You're going to reap just what you sow

It's a clever subterfuge, don't you think?

Stick with one woman, take care of your family, do your job, stay out of trouble. Everyone will assume you're a nice guy. ;)
