Amazing 3D Sidewalk Chalk Art

I've been checking this guy out named Julian Beever. He makes unbelievably realistic 3D art using chalk spread out to give it depth when viewed from a particular angle.

His website is HERE, but I'll post some of his pics too. Keep in mind these are all drawn on a flat sidewalk and made to look 3 dimensional.

I'm amazed how many times he's been stopped mid-project by the police at the request of the store owners. :(

i love this stuff. they had several people doing this kind of thing at the state college arts festival in pa when i went last year. none of their stuff was quite as amazing as the stuff posted here, though. why do they get harassed by the store owners? does he interfere with access to the store? i would think something interesting to look at near a store would make people more apt to stop and shop.

Aww shoot Radar, you stole my thunder. Someone sent me an email a few weeks back with some really bad res pics of his stuff. I have been trying to find some better ones to post up here. I well, you snooze, I loose.

This guys is simply amazing. Great stuff.

My failing memory tells me that this was an IOTD awhile back.

Yeah, I definitely remember seeing it before. I didn't see the pics on the website taken from the wrong side before though - I wish there were more of them.
