New York Visit
I just got back from my brother's graduation in New York City, and took a few pictures.
A view from our hotel. My condo's market value is insane, but I bet it wouldn't be a down payment for one of these roof units. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/happymonkey/17371515/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://photos12.flickr.com/17371515_bbba902c2b.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="Roof Gardens" /></a> I just thought this was a pretty cool looking building. Nothing complicated, but nice. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/happymonkey/17371778/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://photos9.flickr.com/17371778_a6a0027b57.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="Blue" /></a> My camera (or my operation thereof) isn't great for night shots. I wish this had focused better, but I think it's a pretty good shot anyway. It's from the roof of my hotel. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/happymonkey/17384386/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://photos11.flickr.com/17384386_9981f21f7a.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Queensboro Bridge" /></a> This shot, also from my hotel roof, works much better. My brother and I met an Australian tourist up on the roof, and we had an interesting discussion of American foreign policy and Doctor Who. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/happymonkey/17384811/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://photos12.flickr.com/17384811_b0820751d1.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="NYC Night Askew" /></a> |

BTW, as far as American foreign policy and Doctor Who, do you think Bush is influenced more by the Daleks or the Cybermen ? :p |
Nice work, HM.
|
HM,
that bridge at night is sweet. It's better that is it soft. The night is soft. or is it do not go softly into the dark night? Whatever. Kudos! |
Thanks!

I was back up in New York over the weekend, to see the new Broadway show:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/happymonkey/25067817/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://photos22.flickr.com/25067817_27bff70225.jpg" width="500" height="296" alt="Spamalot" /></a> It was pretty good, and some worries I had over my tickets turned out to be unfounded. They were pretty close to the best seats in the house - front row balcony. Tim Curry (Arthur) and Alan Tudyk (Lancelot, French Taunter, Knight of Ni, Tim the Enchanter) were excellent, as was Sara Ramirez (Lady of the Lake). David Hyde Pierce (Sir Robin, Guard I, Brother Maynard) wasn't quite so hot - he seems to have the same act no matter what role he plays. A couple of Python bits from outside the Holy Grail were brought in, and there was a good deal of new stuff. Very enjoyable altogether. |
I am currently a lovely shade of Kelly Green with envy.

NYC is one of my dream destinations. Hope I can visit it soon.
|
Billy, if they are worried about you coming back, I'd be glad to be a hostage over there. Just give me some time to buy a bunch of cards for my camera. ;)

I'm going to NYC in about a month. I'll post a few pics when I return. <evil snicker>

Day: http://photos21.flickr.com/25824491_9abd9e06a3.jpg and Night: http://photos23.flickr.com/25826374_d03b409efe.jpg The night shot is from the roof of a warehouse-turned-apartment-building that a few of my brother's friends live in. |
The shot with the flare from the sun is very cool! All the shots are good. Thanks for allowing me to experience NY without actually having to go there.
