5/20/2005: Strange angle on sled racing dog

http://cellar.org/2005/sled-race-dog.jpg

xoB sent this (some time ago!), from the WaPo, of a dog poking its nose through a hole in its kennel. This particular dog was part of seventy of the best dogsled teams in North America. But that's all a red herring, as the trick of the pic is its weird perspective and maybe the fact that this particular dog has a human-like eye? Anyway, it's weird, but I saved it for a Friday, but then every Friday seemed to find a more appropriate Friday image, and something less odd. Finally it makes its way out of the queue.

the holes in the kennel look like a pawprint. He looks like a smart dog. I like.

I always think the Blue Eyed Huskies look like they know more than we (humans) do.

Ghost Eyes.

All of them that I've known *do* know more than we do. After all, there are no huskies working their butts off put food in my bowl every day.

Elspode - once again you have expressed my thoughts better than i could.

BTW - anybody want a beautiful male boxer? i've met rocks that know more than this little bastard.

Huskies are not all that smart.

The sled dogs do work hard and don't really know why. They look smart, especially in the eyes, but they are really bred to run in the cold and not think. Even dog experts rank the breed as below median. Beleive it or not standard poodles are near the top.

My roommate had a husky that he kept in the back yard in a dog house.

Most of the time the dog prefered to sleep in the snow, but if it got really cold my roommate would put a doggie bed in the dog house. He had to be careful though, because if it got above 25 degrees (F) the dog would rip it to shreds, and wouldn't have a doggie bed anymore.

But they really do prefer the cold. One time I came home and saw the dog licking it's frozen water dish. I felt sorry for it, so I knocked the ice out and refilled it with room temperature water. The dog sniffed it and walked away.

Quit trying to give your doggie away and try to understand his truth! Get down there on the floor with him and tune into his spirit! He's trying to tell you something! Dogs are little furry spirits reminding us to love one another and to vaccuum once in a while. :apaw: <---I like that smilie! :)

he is trying to tell me that he likes to shit where he sleeps and if he gets bored, said shit doesn't taste that bad. he is saying that 4 year old little boys are meant for knocking down and nibbling on. he is saying that Lookout should be happy about getting up at 12, 3, 5(and staying up) to let him go out and walk around but do nothing...

he is actually really cute. just stupid. and an absolute dirtball. and i just don't have the patience for him by 9 pm every night.

Dog: Man's best friend
Dog: Definitely not lookout's pal.
Try a cat and you will most likely appreciate the mutt. Nice of you to try to find a good home for him tho....... sounds like he needs one.
.......hmmmmmmmm.....I wonder what it would cost to ship a dog to central Ga.?

1) Boxers are overbred and mostly retarded and hyperactive.
2) how old is he?
3) What are you feeding him?
4) how much research have you done on dog training, housebreaking, dominance, etc?
I'm a former animal care technician and veterinary technician. I can help.

Moved up in the world, have ya?

staceyv 05-21-2005 04:36 AM

I said "former"...

lookout123 05-21-2005 10:13 AM

i can't really get rid of him. the wife is fairly attached to him. he is actually a good dog - just too much energy for the time i have available. with summer rolling around someone will be home most of the time to run him and all should be well.

i'm just used to having cleaner breeds of dog, i didn't realize how disgusting boxers were before i agreed upon this little pig.

Sounds like the dog is getting alone fine.... it's Lookout that's having trouble adjusting.

Anyway, the sled dog in Alaska.
Very...sometimes very, very.... cold Alaska.
I'm surprised to see an aluminum crate.
I hope he doesn't get his tongue stuck to it.
