Fun in Philadelphia
Mrs. Dallas is supposed to go out for drinks tomorrow (Monday) night with a friend and the friend's sister. The sister is apparently interested in checking out the Philadelphia nightlife which, being old married women(tm), Mrs. Dallas and her friend know nothing about.
So if you wanted to show someone a good time on a Monday night in Philadelphia, where would you go? |
They can't wait until Thursday night?

I think that the ladies are probably S.O.L., as Philadelphia closes at 6pm on Mondays. |
The sister is from out of town. She leaves Tuesday morning.
I said something to the same effect that Monday wasn't the best night for this. |
Waterfront clubs??
Uh...um....what does she look like? |
Obviously, some folks here haven't been in the City after 6pm lately.
I recommend the Continental Midtown (18th and Chestnut)...it's a nice place. |
The boy does know his restaurants and nightspots ...

I don't know where your friends are from, but I vote for Chinatown. Philadelphia's is small compared to New York or San Francisco, but there is a lot there and some of it is exotic, especially to people who don't live near a large Asian community.
Some trendier stuff has been happening in the past few years, they even have a place for dancing. ;) |
In Philly
World Cafe Live... http://www.worldcafelive.com/ Bummer - closed to the public Monday Night Food and Drinks in Old Philly – There are a few good restaurants. Some of my favs are: Astral Plane http://www.theastralplane.com White Dog Cafe http://www.whitedog.com/ Of course there’s always Manayunk – Parking is kind of a bitch – but shouldn’t be too bad on a Monday. It’s fun to walk down the main drag at night – a lot of the shops are open late and there’s a lot of cool bars and restaurants in a small area. Particularly noteworthy is Sonoma (A great Martini bar and a good restaurant) http://www.sonomarestaurant.com/ The Manayunk Brewery http://www.manayunkbrewery.com and Le Bus (same people who make the breads) http://www.lebusmanayunk.com/ There’s a lot more in Philly If I think of more I’ll post it later tonight… Edited to correct the info about world Cafe live (had the wrong link and info) Edited to correct another link! (Doh!) |
Another place I really enjoyed…
Plough and the Stars http://www.ploughstars.com All of the previous items mentioned I have been to and have personally enjoyed. Below is a link I came across for Philly Top rated nightlife – many of them I have heard of – but not visited… http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguid...ntertainment-i |
I was gonna recommend the Plough/Stars too. Actually, that whole strip (2nd St) in Old City has some fun places, interspersed among the pretentious and trendy joints. The Continental (Market St. at 2nd St.) is great for martinis. If they're looking for shots and beers, Drinkers Pub (on Market between Front and 2nd St.) is the way to go.
Never hung out much in the Center City neighborhood, but I've always been a huge fan of Nodding Head (on Sansom St.). There are some other great places near there, too. I'm more of a Northern Liberties kinda guy, but that's a really yuppie/college-y part of town. Dunno if they'd so much be into those places. |
Thanks to all for the interesting suggestions. They ended up at Woody's Bar.
|
Well, at least you didn't have to worry about Mrs. Dallas getting frisky with any of the guys there. :)
|
Is the bar really close to Spruce Street or something?
|
It's at 13th and Walnut, in the gayborhood.
