Google mystery

I love Google. I use it all the time, all day long. It's my personal research assistant, fact checker, comic relief, and fount of wisdom. I have a great relationship with Google. I use several of the tools, Google Desktop Search, Google Maps, Google Local, Google Toolbar, etc, etc. I think the company is as good as it's flagship search engine, and that is high praise indeed. I sometimes think there's nothing that Google can't do on the computer. Well, except when it forgets to communicate to me in ENGLISH!

Sometimes I'll get the results of a query (as I said I do scores of queries a day) from www.google.com.br. Go figure. Google itself puckishly refuses to address the question, no matter how I phrase it. While interesting, it is annoying and I wonder if any of my friends out there have had the same experience (some others in the office here have also) and if anyone has any clue as to how to make it go away and stay away.

Thanks.

1) are you using any sort of open proxy system to get online (anonymizer, etc.)? If so, one of the relays may be in Brasil. Goggle's system reads your incoming IP address and sends you to a localized language version of the site.

2) Do you have a soul-twining astral twin who is doing google searches in Brasil without your knowledge? That might be it ...

I've gotten it once in a while, probably something to do with where the target sites are mirrored.

Aside - One of the best uses for Google is to check spelling. Yeah, spelling, especially of people and places. The dictionary(online) isn't much help if you can't spell it exactly, unlike a real dictionary where you can guess and then peruse. When Google says "Did you mean..." they are usually right. :o
Another use is when you have a url that's close, Google will usually get to where you want to go, rather than "The page cannot be displayed".
So if you're lazy, sloppy and dumb like me, Google is your friend.
