Buenos Aires, Argentina
hard to see a green spot?
notice the grid or blocks, which the are squares of aproximately 100 mts x 100 mts. this picture was taken by a friend of mine before landing on the local airport.. its the exact center of the city (not downtown tho), its a neighbourhood called caballito check this to make an idea of the dimension BA map |
That's awesome. Why is it called 'Little Horse'?
|
according to history, in 1804 there was a 'pulperia' (pub/bar) in the intersection of rivadavia and mitre (main streets in caballito), and that pulperia had a weather cock, but instead of having a cock, it had the silouette of a horse, so everyone that was heading to that place said 'going to caballito', in reference to the pulperia.

How far is it from Boca to Villa Real, and from Villa Riachuelo to Nunez. It looks like a very big city but I didn't see a scale.
|
Villa Riachuelo and Villa Real do not exist, but, i think i get what you are talking about, La Boca (a neighbourhood) is located south of the city, thats where Boca Juniors (a football (or soccer) club) is, the Riachuelo is a long nasty, super dirty and polluted narrow river.
From La Boca to Nunez the approximate distance is 15 or 20 kms. it takes 20 minutes by car or 45 by bus. during rush hour, it can take you two times that. Bue info in english |

to be honest, never in my life heard about those 2 places, so i asked my grandfather. He told me that Villa Riachuelo and Villa Real do exist, and they changed their names like 2 decades ago. Riachuelo is now Lugano and Villa Real is now part of Versailles.
the travel distance from those places is preetty sshort because there is a major freeway that runs from Nunez to Villa Riachuelo and from there to Boca. (30 mins by car @ 120 km/h.) thank you bruce, now i know more about my city! |
