Bungy!

Stand on a wooden platform 1300ft above Queenstown, NZ. Attach a 150-ft rubber band to a harness on your back. Back up a few steps, then run and jump out into oblivion. Fun, yes?

And have you recently done this, Matt?

I don't know if I could go through with it or not, but it sounds cool.

russotto 12-03-2004 09:02 PM

Yep, that's me in the picture. Definitely cool.

How did I miss that Russotto was from New Zealand? Or was this a vacation thing?

Beestie 12-04-2004 12:44 AM

Never. Not in a million years. Nope.

Done that too (there's a picture of it in another thread, even, though I never identified that one). Bungy jumping, or at least this jump, gets the adrenaline pumping even more than tandem skydiving. Two big differences; one is that you're jumping of your own will rather than when the guy strapped to your back jumps. Two, you're jumping out into still air, so at first it's just like falling rather than being blown around. I haven't tried skydiving with an individual parachute yet... next year, probably.

As for bungy jumping from a plane... I'm sure people are working on it.

So how do you keep the vomit off yourself?

elSicomoro 12-04-2004 09:13 PM

Aim downward.

zippyt 12-04-2004 10:33 PM

I have jumped out of a helo with nothing but a rope befor , the best thing to do is tie off Aus style ( on the back ) and run off about 20-30 feet of slack , back up , run and dive !!!!
For a few seconds you are Superman !!!!!!!

VERRRRRY COOL !!!!!!!

xoxoxoBruce 12-05-2004 04:46 PM

Clodfobble 12-05-2004 09:36 PM

Nobody's ever had it happen more than once. ;)
