Coming and Going

The GI doc is gonna get me coming and going Tuesday so its no chow tomorrow. Hopefully he'll have my celiac test results as well. I feel really good but this cutting meat to pea size before eating is getting old. The Shotsky ring needs stretching and hopefully everything else is fine. Hey I'm getting the day off tuesday and maybe I'll get to swallow some turkey by Thursday. Radio Paradise just played Seven Nations, the Waterboys and Dada in succession, things could be much worse.

You have my sympathy Griff. I have Crohn's disease so I have to go through that routine every three years or so. Hope you get to enjoy turkey day.

Hang tough, Griff. I have to go to the GI doctor next Monday for an endoscopy...blecch! I hope the drugs are good.

Griff 11-23-2004 06:02 AM

Thanks guys, its my first go around with this so I don't really know what to expect. Got a call from my doctors office yesterday, seems the lab screwed up so they need to take blood today as well...

Griff 11-23-2004 03:25 PM

OK been there done that not a big deal. Wouldn't want to wake up in the middle of something like that though. My heart rate was making folks uncomfortable again but it kept on chugging a steady 38bpm. Whats your story Syc if ya don't mind?

elSicomoro 11-23-2004 07:07 PM

A mild case of esophagitis...my upper GI from July came back fine for the most part, but my PCP wants me to have the endoscopy done just in case. What the hell...it's only costing me $25.

Is your case pretty serious or just more of an annoyance?

Elspode 11-24-2004 08:41 AM

As one who had an ileostomy 12 years ago, I can tell you all that having your innards closely monitored can save your lives. It saved mine. Hopefully, you'll be able to head off and treat your conditions before they have to start harvesting malfunctioning internal organs.

elSicomoro 11-24-2004 08:06 PM

I won't be going for that endoscopy Monday after all. Due to issues with my heart, they don't want to put me under until that's straightened out.

Griff 11-25-2004 09:32 PM

I hope you get that worked out bro. Let us know if you want us to put together the old cellar good vibrations circle.

elSicomoro 11-25-2004 09:56 PM

I'm battling...*thinks*...4 different health issues at the moment. Fun stuff...appreciate the concern, bro.

It all depends on how you look at it, I guess. I live a pretty normal lifestyle and I still have all my plumbing - so that's all to the good. On the other hand, I have to be very careful not to eat any roughage. Anything that's not liquid by the time it gets to the bad spots hits a constriction and stops everything. Much pain and bad times follow.

Thank God for modern medicine. I'd have been dead at 21 if it hadn't been for steroids.

I feel your pain dar. Although I *do* cheat sometimes, a little. Once or twice a year, the salad bug bites me and I graze at a salad bar for a meal. Then pay for it for three or four days after. Soft Pretzels with mustard too. Yum!

Although I can eat anything I want (within the normal low-fat, low sodium, low carb limits...sigh), I can't say that it is always, um...convenient. I don't miss the churning internal volcano that was my original IBD, though. I swear my guts made noises that you could hear across a gymnasium.

I take no bows for abstaining. Pain is a great motivator.
